BARTENDER

 

JOB TITLE:                            Bartender

REPORTS TO:                      Manager / Supervisor 

Summary

Preparing alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages for bar and patrons. Interacting with customers, taking orders, and serving snacks and drinks.

Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Greet customers and present beverage menus.
  2. Make recommendations and answer all related inquiries.
  3. Check identification of customers to verify they are of legal drinking age.
  4. Take orders from serving staff or directly from customers.
  5. Peel, slice and pit fruit for garnishing drinks.
  6. Serve snacks to customers seated at the bar.
  7. Upsell drink and snack items to customers.
  8. Respond promptly & politely to requests from customers.
  9. Know when to cut off a customer who has had too much to drink.
  • Process transactions using the POS system.
  • Prepare checks for customers.
  • Arrange glasses and bottles in a functional display.
  • Comply with all health, safety and hygiene standards and policies.
  • Balance the cash register at the start and close of each shift.
  • Order and restock bar inventory.

Skills and Experience:

 

  1. Minimum age requirement of 21 years old.
  2. Working knowledge of spirits, wine, beer, brands of alcohol etc.
  3. Knowledge and education in mixology an advantage.
  4. Able to work flexible schedules.
  5. Able to work in a standing position for long periods.
  6. Ability to reach, bend and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
  7. Customer service orientation.
  8. Excellent communication skills.
  9. Team player, reliable, fast-paced environment.
